Later today, I will be interviewing the Head Coach of Women’s Swimming and Diving at the University of Houston, Ryan Wochomurka.
Ryan is in his third year coaching Houston, and we’re going to reminisce about how we met way back when, having a passionate argument about a chance to NCAA Qualification procedures.
Then I’ll ask him about his time at Louisville, where during his time as an assistant the program saw a dramatic rise in their national stature within the NCAA.
Reaching the present day, we’ll take stock of where Houston stands and where he sees the program headed in the coming years.
We’ll speak about the work we have been doing together, teaching Positive Psychology concepts to his athletes. That project started last month and continues through the rest of the season, with our next meeting a couple weeks away.
I’ll ask Ryan to step back in time and discuss his motivation for engaging this kind of outside experience for his team, as well as what he experienced in the opening weekend. Finally we’ll discuss what kinds of changes he has seen so far.
The podcast should be available to listen to later today!
